I went to see Dr. Barter when it was time for me to get a check-up as I haven’t seen a doctor for a full physical for almost 13 years. Upon entering the practice I felt comfortable and impressed by the well appointed office space — unlike any doctors office I had seen. After handing over some 5 plus pages with questions about my health, my session with Dr. Julie Barter began with the review of my state of well being. Dr. Barter's had a very intuitive way to inquire about issues and naturally lead me to provide more details about things that may be irrelevant at first. This was refreshing and unlike any traditional doctors appointment I ever had or witnessed. Dr. Barter took the time to explain in detail my blood test results, what they mean not just in numbers, but how they relate to how you feel, the functions of my organs, being tired, etc.
Dr. Barter then continued to examine my vitals, heart, and gave me a round of tablets to taste that contain minerals that I may lack. She continued with some physical exams, testing my muscle responses — tests I don't really know how to call but with additional taste of tablets had an instant effect and noticeable difference. Dr. Barter finished our session with adjusting my body: neck, shoulders, back, feet, legs. I felt clearer and more relaxed. I was comfortable with every adjustment she made, and left the office refreshed and clear headed and taking with me a few supplements to address some mineral and vitamin deficiencies. Since the appointment I feel more energized, balanced, and clear headed. I started running twice a week and I’m very much enjoying it. I will be back in half a year with my annual blood-work to see Dr. Barter and review any issues, but I suspect the the blood work will only reflect my current state of a healthier me. byjaneR, January 24, 2011
I am a very picky when it comes to doctors, as in general I find their treatment plans too slow (taking months to see results) and often accompanied by numerous office visits. This is why I am a big fan of Dr. Barter, as she is extremely comprehensive and at the same time very quick to get to the cause of the problem, and to find the most effective solution for it. In about a week after my first visit with Dr. Barter I felt significantly better, and within two weeks of the visit I had an over-abundance of energy!
I attribute Dr. Barter’s ability to make people feel better quickly due to her holistic, whole body approach to healing. In her session with me she used a combination of diagnostics, including physical exam, looking at blood work, applied kinesiology (muscle imbalances), and looking at spinal mis-alignments, to get a full picture of what the key issues were. For treatment she used a combination of supplements/vitamins and spinal adjustments. I have also brought my kids to her for a couple of conditions that they couldn’t fight off on their own (a persistent cough and a bad reaction to a vaccination). Dr. Barter in 15 minute office visits was able to find homeopathic remedies that worked within the hour of leaving the office, and symptoms were completely gone within two days. I would recommend Dr. Barter as a family physician to anyone who is ready to get to the root cause of their problems, and who wants to feel better fast. byWallace, January 24, 2011
I was a mess when I started working with Dr. Barter. I was overweight, and spent most of my days in pain. I had migraines, aching knees and elbows, heart palpitations, and digestive misery. I was tired all the time. Over the years, I had been to many other regular doctors, naturopaths, and chiropractors. I took their supplements, ate the way they told me to eat, and let them adjust me. But I stayed sick.
Things turned around for me when I started working with Dr. Barter. She gave me a diet individually tailored just to me. Just with my right diet my symptoms started to improve. She did bodywork on me using applied kinesiology which follows the Chinese acupuncture system. She also gave me supplements and homeopathy and herbs. These were also individually tailored, unique to my needs. The difference is amazing. I have shed all those extra pounds and I live without pain. I am more active and healthier now than I have ever been. I cannot recommend Dr. Barter highly enough.
I'm always getting banged up from cycling and dirt biking, and any chance to get things sorted out without resorting to synthetic drugs and modern medicine is at the top of my list. One of my goals in life as I get older is to avoid having a bunch of prescription meds in the cabinet. With Dr. Julie's insight and guidance, I've made adjustments to my diet & exercise regimen that have me feeling a lot better and will keep me healthy and pain-free for the long haul.
